Get MCP, MCDST & A+ Certified *
Students will acquire technical knowledge and expertise that will prepare them to become Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) and CompTIA A+ certified. Master exam prep tests are included for students to demonstrate their skills before taking certification exams.

     

Instructor led & Interactive e-learning
The CST program blends a combination of instructor led classroom training and video-based e-learning to give students the best opportunity to pass certification exams. The instructor to student ratio will never exceed 1 to 12 for classes and labs so individualized attention is ensured.

 

Flexible start dates, convenient class times
The CST Program is offered with on-going and variable start dates. Students will attend Official Microsoft and CompTIA A+ instructor led classes along with additional self-paced e-learning to fortify their learning.

Program Overview:
The Computer Service Technician (CST) program is for students looking to take their first step into the Information Technology support field. This program combines traditional in-classroom learning experiences with e-Learning self-paced training and practice tests to prepare for certification exams.

Potential Career Fields/Areas: Information Technology, Desktop Support Help Desk, Computer Repair

Clock Hours:  220

Prerequisites:
Basic experience in Windows, HS diploma, GED, ATB, and 24 words per minute typing ability

Program Goals:
Completion of both classroom and e-Learning course materials and completion of A+ Hardware, A+ Operating Systems, and Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) leading to Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)



Required Courses & Descriptions
 

CompTIA A+ Essentials
In-classroom Instruction (40 hours)
Comp TIA A+ Essentials is the newest course and examination from Comp TIA for entry-level IT professionals. In this five-day course students will obtain the skills and knowledge necessary to install, build, upgrade, repair, configure, troubleshoot, and performing preventative maintenance on personal computer hardware and operating systems. This hands-on course is designed to prepare students for the A+ Essentials examination and includes exam practice materials. This course is for anyone who wishes to begin a career in information technology by becoming a personal computer service technician, or who wants to prepare to take the CompTIA A+ Essentials examination.

CompTIA A+ Technician
In-classroom Instruction (40 hours)
Comp TIA A+ Technician will prepare students for CompTIA A+ 220-602 exam. Students will learn how to support PC hardware in a business setting, including installation, troubleshooting, and component replacement. This course is for anyone who wishes to begin a career in information technology by becoming a personal computer service technician, or who wants to prepare to take the CompTIA A+ Essentials examination.

CompTIA A+ Certification 2006
e-Learning Instruction (45 hours)
CompTIA A+ Certification has been established as the standard credential for anyone beginning an information technology career. In this CompTIA A+ certification prep course, you'll delve into the inner workings of the personal computer with Mike Meyers; the IT industry's leading CompTIA A+ authority. Meyers shows you how hardware components and operating systems work together for optimum functionality. This is the course to give you the knowledge and confidence to work in the real world of computers and help prepare you to pass the CompTIA A+ certification exam.

Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) Microsoft 2261/2262
In-classroom Instruction (40 hours)
Official Microsoft Courses 2261 & 2262 provide individuals who are new to Microsoft Windows XP with the knowledge and skills necessary to troubleshoot basic problems end users will face while running Microsoft Windows XP Professional in an Active Directory network environment, or Windows XP Home edition in a workgroup environment. This is an introductory course designed to provide an overview of operating system concepts and how to troubleshoot Windows XP.

Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) - Series
e-Learning Instruction (30 hours)
The Windows XP MCDST certification series from LearnKey prepares candidates for both core exams required to achieve Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) certification. In this two-course series, expert instructor Tom Carpenter shows candidates how to troubleshoot common problems with Windows XP OS and with popular Windows application programs. At the conclusion of this LearnKey series, MCDST candidates will be prepared to pass MCP exams and the knowledge and skills to superbly staff a help desk, customer service or technical support positions.

Communication for IT Specialists
e-Learning Instruction (10 hours)
